Farm Direct Free Range Beef

Melbourne Natural Grass Fed Beef was founded by Ellie in 2013 and her farm was in Nar Nar Goon then. In 2021 she moved to East Gippsland and entrusted the business to us, Christine & Alvin. We are custodians of a beautiful farm located in the beautiful rolling hills of West Gippsland in the Strzelecki Ranges about 40 minutes from Pakenham and 1.5 hours from Melbourne city.

ABOUT US

We are a small family owned and operated farm. And together with our 4 young children, we have been raising beef cattle since 2013. We breed predominantly Red Angus & Wagyu cattle. In the last couple of years, we are proud of the cattle we bred and think that now is the time to share our produce directly with you. We are really excited to have the opportunity to take over the baton from Ellie, learn from her and combine our experiences to continue providing you with good quality and delicious grass fed beef.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I order the beef pack?

You can either email or call us to place your orders. A $100 deposit will be required before processing of the cattle.

How do I pick up the beef pack?

When the beef packs are ready, we will inform you of a designated location in your local vicinity at an appointed time and day for you to pick it up. Home delivery may be arranged from only $10.

How much fridge or freezer space do I need?

A 9kg beef pack will generally fit into a 20L space and standard top mount refrigerators usually have 250L of fridge and 100L of freezer space.

Are you certified organic?

No, but we aim to raise our cattle as naturally as possible without the use of antibiotics unless absolutely necessary to ensure the welfare of the animal. And all our grass fed beef are free from growth hormones and GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms).

What is so special about grass fed beef?

Grass-fed beef has been found to have a healthier ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids. It often contains higher levels of key nutrients, including antioxidants, vitamins, and a beneficial fat called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) that's been tied to improved immunity and anti-inflammatory benefits. And in our opinion, they taste better.

Why is grass fed beef more expensive?

Pasture raised & grass fed cattle require more space and take much longer to grow to the same weight as those fed on grain.

What do F1 or F2 mean?

The letter 'F' stands for the word fillial and the number '1' or '2' refers to the generation. For example, a F1 Wagyu simply means that they are a first generation cross and are at least 50% Wagyu and  F2 Wagyu means that they are at least 75% Wagyu. Likewise F1 & F2 Angus means that they are at least 50% & 75% Angus respectively.
